How it works

  1. 01

    Print the template

    Two A4 pages: every letter on page 1; figures, punctuation, accents and ß Æ Œ Ø Ł on page 2.

  2. 02

    Write each character

    One character per box with a black or dark blue pen, resting on the darker baseline. Write each accent over or under the faint o.

  3. 03

    Photograph both pages

    Lay each page flat in good light and take a photo or scan with all four black corner squares showing. A slight angle is fine.

  4. 04

    Get your font

    We straighten the photos, trace your letters on their baselines and build accented letters from your own accents. It takes about a minute.

Upload your pages

  • Use a dark pen or marker; pencil is too light to trace.
  • Keep each character inside its box; strokes crossing into the next box are cut off.
  • Avoid shadows across the page. Daylight or a bright room works best.
  • Upside down or sideways photos are fine; all four corner squares must be visible.

After it is made, open it in the Studio to adjust spacing or redraw a letter.

Select both photos or scans at once: JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 15 MB each, in any order.

Questions

Which characters does my handwriting font include?
Every character you write: A–Z, a–z, 0–9, all ASCII punctuation, ß Æ æ Œ œ Ø ø Ł ł. Accented letters are built from the accents you write, which covers English, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Czech, Hungarian, Romanian, Swedish, Danish and Turkish. Curly quotes, dashes, ¿ and ¡ are made from your own marks.
Does it invent letters I did not write?
No. Every letter in the font comes from your pages. A box left empty is missing from the font, and if a letter, figure or basic punctuation mark is missing, the font is not made and your credits come back.
Is my handwriting kept private?
Yes. Your photos and the font are private to your account. They are not added to the public library.
Can I fix a letter afterwards?
Yes. Open the font in the Studio to change spacing, replace any letter with a new drawing, or add a Bold or Thin weight.
What does it cost?
Making a handwriting font uses 360 credits. If your pages cannot be read, nothing is made and the credits are returned automatically.
