About
About Abbey Textura
Its lowercase sits low: the x-height is 67.7% of the cap height, where the median for decorative fonts is 74.5%, the lowest of all 36 decorative fonts. Ascenders on b, d, h, k and l line up with the capitals (98.9% of their height), and descenders on g, j, p, q and y drop 31.2% of the cap height below the baseline, level with the deepest of the 36 decorative fonts. Abbey Textura runs 9.3% narrower than the median for decorative fonts: an average lowercase letter, spacing included, is 69.1% as wide as the capitals are tall (an average capital, 100.5%). The o is close to a circle, 1.05 times as wide as it is tall, and M is the widest capital, at 1.28 times the width of H. The O stops 1.1% of the cap height short of H and dips 0.4% below the baseline.
The letters stand upright, with no measurable slant. Ink covers 33.4% of each lowercase letter's box (its advance width by the cap height), lighter than 23 of the 35 other decorative fonts.
Its 148 characters include 105 Latin letters, plus 43 figures, punctuation marks and symbols; 53 of the Latin letters are accented or special forms beyond A to Z. The word space measures 33.3% of the cap height, and the blank space either side of a lowercase letter takes up 5.8% of its width. Spacing is adjusted with 218 kerning pairs, more than 21 of the 35 other decorative fonts. The tightest of them is TA, which closes up by 22.6% of the cap height. The figures have different widths, so columns of numbers set in Abbey Textura will not line up exactly.
Measured from the version 0.1.0 font file. Comparisons are with the 314 library fonts measured on October 2, 2026, 36 of them decorative fonts.
