About
About Monument 3D
Its lowercase sits low: the x-height is 71% of the cap height, where the median for display fonts is 76.2%, lower than 80 of the 97 other display fonts. Ascenders on b, d, h, k and l line up with the capitals (100% of their height), and descenders on g, j, p, q and y drop 28.8% of the cap height below the baseline, deeper than 88 of the 97 other display fonts. Monument 3D runs 8.5% narrower than the median for display fonts: an average lowercase letter, spacing included, is 81.8% as wide as the capitals are tall (an average capital, 89.8%). The o is close to a circle, 1.05 times as wide as it is tall, and M and W are the widest capitals, at 1.09 times the width of H. The O tops out level with H and stands 1.1% above the baseline.
Ink covers 36.1% of each lowercase letter's box (its advance width by the cap height), lighter than 67 of the 97 other display fonts. Each letter carries a solid 3D extrusion joined to its face.
Its 148 characters include 105 Latin letters, plus 43 figures, punctuation marks and symbols; 53 of the Latin letters are accented or special forms beyond A to Z. The word space measures 31.2% of the cap height, and the blank space either side of a lowercase letter takes up 5.2% of its width. Spacing is adjusted with 238 kerning pairs, more than 87 of the 97 other display fonts. The tightest of them is VA, which closes up by 26.3% of the cap height. The figures have different widths, so columns of numbers set in Monument 3D will not line up exactly.
5 other library fonts share Monument 3D's underlying letter structure. Compared with Monument 3D, Parlour Shadow adds a separate drop shadow. Gold Rush Roman adds Tuscan spurs and puts down 18% less ink. Alumni Roman rings each letter with an outline.
Measured from the version 0.1.0 font file. Comparisons are with the 314 library fonts measured on October 2, 2026, 98 of them display fonts.
