About
About Rodeo Slab
With an x-height of 81.5% of the cap height, its lowercase stands above the 69.6% median for serif fonts, taller than 37 of the 39 other serif fonts. Ascenders on b, d, h, k and l rise 3.4% above the capitals, and descenders on g, j, p, q and y drop 23.6% of the cap height below the baseline, shallower than 35 of the 39 other serif fonts. It sets wide: an average lowercase letter, spacing included, is 112.8% as wide as the capitals are tall (an average capital, 126.7%), 31.3% more than the median for serif fonts, so the same words take a longer line. The o is wider than it is tall, 1.31 to 1, and W is the widest capital, at 1.33 times the width of H. Round letters overshoot: O rises 1.1% of the cap height above H and dips 1.1% below the baseline.
The letters stand upright, with no measurable slant. Vertical stems measure 21.4% of the cap height, heavier than 29 of the 35 other serif fonts. Ink covers 48.5% of each lowercase letter's box (its advance width by the cap height), darker than 36 of the 39 other serif fonts. Strokes keep one thickness in every direction: the sides of o and O measure the same as their tops and bottoms.
Its 148 characters include 105 Latin letters, plus 43 figures, punctuation marks and symbols; 53 of the Latin letters are accented or special forms beyond A to Z. The word space measures 41.7% of the cap height, and the blank space either side of a lowercase letter takes up 8.3% of its width. Spacing is adjusted with 218 kerning pairs, more than 23 of the 39 other serif fonts. The tightest of them is VA, which closes up by 38.3% of the cap height. The figures have different widths, so columns of numbers set in Rodeo Slab will not line up exactly.
Rodeo Slab is drawn on the same letter structure as 8 other fonts in the library. Compared with Rodeo Slab, Bandit Slab sets 26% narrower, puts down 16% less ink and has a 77% x-height. Telex Mono sets 24% narrower, puts down 45% less ink and has a 76% x-height. Marquee Slab cuts a thin line along each stroke, sets 7% narrower and puts down 17% less ink.
Measured from the version 0.1.0 font file. Comparisons are with the 314 library fonts measured on October 2, 2026, 40 of them serif fonts.
