About
About Rotunda Tale
The x-height is a compact 71.5% of the cap height, below the 74.5% median for decorative fonts, lower than 28 of the 35 other decorative fonts. Ascenders on b, d, h, k and l line up with the capitals (98.9% of their height), and descenders on g, j, p, q and y drop 31.2% of the cap height below the baseline, level with the deepest of the 36 decorative fonts. It sets narrow: an average lowercase letter, spacing included, is 61.3% as wide as the capitals are tall (an average capital, 102.9%), 19.6% less than the median for decorative fonts, so more words fit on a line. The o is an upright oval, 0.82 times as wide as it is tall, and M is the widest capital, at 1.28 times the width of H. The O stops 0.5% of the cap height short of H and sits on the baseline.
The letters stand upright, with no measurable slant. Ink covers 34.2% of each lowercase letter's box (its advance width by the cap height), lighter than 22 of the 35 other decorative fonts.
Its 148 characters include 105 Latin letters, plus 43 figures, punctuation marks and symbols; 53 of the Latin letters are accented or special forms beyond A to Z. The word space measures 33.2% of the cap height, and the blank space either side of a lowercase letter takes up 7% of its width. Spacing is adjusted with 221 kerning pairs, more than 22 of the 35 other decorative fonts. The tightest of them is TA, which closes up by 22.8% of the cap height. The figures have different widths, so columns of numbers set in Rotunda Tale will not line up exactly.
Rotunda Tale is drawn on the same letter structure as 2 other fonts in the library. Compared with Rotunda Tale, Saga Rotunda Shadow adds a separate drop shadow. Wyrm Rotunda Outline draws the letters as hollow outlines and puts down 52% less ink.
Measured from the version 0.1.0 font file. Comparisons are with the 314 library fonts measured on October 2, 2026, 36 of them decorative fonts.
