Pinched Waist Retro Letterforms
Bubble Groovy Wide combines broad rounded letters with inward dents that keep the heavy shapes from feeling rigid. The H swells at the top and bottom, narrowing around its middle bridge. The E has bulbous outer arms and a shorter middle tongue, leaving curved openings along its right edge. The O wraps a thick, nearly circular bowl around a small upright counter. Rounded terminals and softly uneven contours give the capitals a relaxed retro character. In the specimen words, the substantial L feet and dense bowls create a cheerful, weighty line with a gently undulating outline.
Test the font in your wording
Inspect the small counters in O and R, the middle opening of H, and repeated L feet in your wording. Check spacing pair by pair. The supplied own-font specimens show Latin capitals; preview lowercase separately, and verify accented Latin or other scripts with an appropriate companion.
Font pairing roles
Use this face for short primary headings, then try a restrained sans serif for descriptions and labels. Its thick bowls, pinched joins and broad feet already supply strong texture; lighter supporting text can give detailed information a calmer rhythm.

Same wording · 40pxHELLO WORLD
Bubble Groovy Wide gives the uppercase phrase broad O bowls, substantial L feet and small counters surrounded by heavy black. Try it when the lettering should occupy a generous horizontal band.
HELLO WORLD
Retro Disco Groove also has pinched uppercase stems, but its O looks more upright and its L has a narrower foot with a pronounced upturned tip. Try it for a more vertically shaped uppercase rhythm.

About
About Bubble Groovy Wide
Its lowercase is tall: the x-height is 78.9% of the cap height, against a median of 74.4% for display fonts, taller than 91 of the 116 other display fonts. Ascenders on b, d, h, k and l rise 7.3% above the capitals, and descenders on g, j, p, q and y drop 16.2% of the cap height below the baseline, shallower than 105 of the 116 other display fonts. Bubble Groovy Wide runs 9.2% wider than the median for display fonts: an average lowercase letter, spacing included, is 95.1% as wide as the capitals are tall (an average capital, 102.8%). The o is close to a circle, 1.14 times as wide as it is tall, and M is the widest capital, at 1.07 times the width of H. The O stops 3.3% of the cap height short of H and dips 1.1% below the baseline.
The letters stand upright, leaning less than 2.5° either way. Vertical stems measure 37.8% of the cap height, heavier than 56 of the 58 other display fonts. Ink covers 58.1% of each lowercase letter's box (its advance width by the cap height), darker than 113 of the 116 other display fonts. The contrast is mild: the sides of o and O are 1.31 times as thick as their tops and bottoms.
Its 95 characters include 52 Latin letters, plus 43 figures, punctuation marks and symbols; there are no accented Latin letters beyond A to Z. The word space measures 55.5% of the cap height, and the blank space either side of a lowercase letter takes up 10.1% of its width. The font carries no kerning, so spacing comes from each letter’s own side bearings. The figures have different widths, so columns of numbers set in Bubble Groovy Wide will not line up exactly.
Measured from the version 0.3.0 font file. Comparisons are with the 376 published library fonts measured on November 8, 2026, 117 of them display fonts.
