About
About Dugout Script
With an x-height of 55.5% of the cap height, its lowercase stands above the 48.4% median for script fonts, taller than 47 of the 53 other script fonts. Ascenders on b, d, h, k and l line up with the capitals (99.4% of their height), and descenders on g, j, p, q and y drop 43% of the cap height below the baseline, shallower than 43 of the 53 other script fonts. It sets narrow: an average lowercase letter, spacing included, is 57.5% as wide as the capitals are tall (an average capital, 107.5%), 10.3% less than the median for script fonts, so more words fit on a line. The o is wider than it is tall, 1.47 to 1, and M is the widest capital, at 1.27 times the width of H. The O tops out level with H and stands 0.5% above the baseline.
Ink covers 55.3% of each lowercase letter's box (its advance width by the cap height), the darkest of all 54 script fonts. Each solid letter is ringed by an outline with a clear gap between them, as on college lettering.
Its 148 characters include 105 Latin letters, plus 43 figures, punctuation marks and symbols; 53 of the Latin letters are accented or special forms beyond A to Z. The word space measures 31.8% of the cap height, and lowercase letters reach 49.1% past their own widths into the space of their neighbours. Spacing is adjusted with 45 kerning pairs, fewer than 24 of the 53 other script fonts. The tightest of them is TA, which closes up by 28.3% of the cap height. The figures have different widths, so columns of numbers set in Dugout Script will not line up exactly.
Dugout Script is drawn on the same letter structure as 14 other fonts in the library. Compared with Dugout Script, Wave Rider Outline draws the letters as hollow outlines, sets 8% wider and puts down 61% less ink. Velvet Cursive keeps the letters plain, without the varsity effect, sets 11% wider and puts down 42% less ink. Snowy Script adds caps of snow and puts down 16% less ink.
Measured from the version 0.1.0 font file. Comparisons are with the 314 library fonts measured on October 2, 2026, 54 of them script fonts.
