About
About Snowy Script
With an x-height of 56.2% of the cap height, its lowercase stands above the 48.4% median for script fonts, taller than 48 of the 53 other script fonts. Ascenders on b, d, h, k and l line up with the capitals (99.4% of their height), and descenders on g, j, p, q and y drop 42.5% of the cap height below the baseline, shallower than 44 of the 53 other script fonts. It sets narrow: an average lowercase letter, spacing included, is 57.1% as wide as the capitals are tall (an average capital, 100.3%), 10.9% less than the median for script fonts, so more words fit on a line. The o is wider than it is tall, 1.27 to 1, and M is the widest capital, at 1.26 times the width of H. The O tops out level with H and stands 0.4% above the baseline.
Ink covers 46.6% of each lowercase letter's box (its advance width by the cap height), darker than 50 of the 53 other script fonts. A rounded cap of snow sits on top of each letter, separated from it by a thin gap.
Its 148 characters include 105 Latin letters, plus 43 figures, punctuation marks and symbols; 53 of the Latin letters are accented or special forms beyond A to Z. The word space measures 31.6% of the cap height, and lowercase letters reach 31.8% past their own widths into the space of their neighbours. Spacing is adjusted with 40 kerning pairs, fewer than 36 of the 53 other script fonts. The tightest of them is TA, which closes up by 25.3% of the cap height. The figures have different widths, so columns of numbers set in Snowy Script will not line up exactly.
Snowy Script is drawn on the same letter structure as 14 other fonts in the library. Compared with Snowy Script, Dugout Script rings each letter with an outline and puts down 19% more ink. Parlor Hand keeps the letters plain, without the snow-cap effect, sets 24% wider and puts down 48% less ink. Ribbon Nib Script keeps the letters plain, without the snow-cap effect, sets 12% wider and puts down 43% less ink.
Measured from the version 0.1.0 font file. Comparisons are with the 314 library fonts measured on October 2, 2026, 54 of them script fonts.
