Funk Wide

Its x-height is 76.3% of the cap height, near the 76.2% typical of display fonts in the library, taller than 49 of the 97 other display fonts. Ascenders on b, d, h, k and l rise 3.5% above the capitals, and descenders on g, j, p, q and y drop 24.8% of the cap height below the baseline, deeper than 63 of the 97 other display fonts. It sets wide: an average lowercase letter, spacing included, is 110.5% as wide as the capitals are tall (an average capital, 125.9%), 23.6% more than the median for display fonts, so the same words take a longer line. The o is wider than it is tall, 1.48 to 1, and W is the widest capital, at 1.29 times the width of H. Round letters overshoot: O rises 1.1% of the cap height above H and dips 1.1% below the baseline.

Vertical stems measure 18.3% of the cap height, lighter than 33 of the 43 other display fonts. Ink covers 36.8% of each lowercase letter's box (its advance width by the cap height), lighter than 66 of the 97 other display fonts. Strokes keep nearly one thickness in every direction: the sides and the tops of o and O differ by 6%.

Its 2,575 characters include 2,401 Korean Hangul and 105 Latin letters, plus 69 figures, punctuation marks and symbols; 53 of the Latin letters are accented or special forms beyond A to Z. The word space measures 46.8% of the cap height, and the blank space either side of a lowercase letter takes up 10% of its width. Spacing is adjusted with 116 kerning pairs, more than 67 of the 97 other display fonts. The tightest of them is AT, which closes up by 32.4% of the cap height. The figures have different widths, so columns of numbers set in Funk Wide will not line up exactly.

Funk Wide is drawn on the same letter structure as 4 other fonts in the library. Compared with Funk Wide, Disco Wave Shadow adds a separate drop shadow and sets 7% narrower. Wave Inline cuts a thin line along each stroke and sets 14% narrower. Lava Groove sets 14% narrower, puts down 36% more ink and adds Japanese (kana).
