The x-height is a compact 53.9% of the cap height, below the 72.8% median for handwriting fonts, the lowest of all 26 handwriting fonts. Ascenders on b, d, h, k and l stop at 80.1% of the capital height, and descenders on g, j, p, q and y drop 38% of the cap height below the baseline, the deepest of all 26 handwriting fonts. It sets narrow: an average lowercase letter, spacing included, is 37.6% as wide as the capitals are tall (an average capital, 44.3%), 48.1% less than the median for handwriting fonts, so more words fit on a line. The o is an upright oval, 0.57 times as wide as it is tall, and W is the widest capital, at 1.13 times the width of H. The O stops 0.4% of the cap height short of H and sits on the baseline.

The letters stand upright, with no measurable slant. Vertical stems measure 5.2% of the cap height, the lightest of all 16 handwriting fonts. Ink covers 17.1% of each lowercase letter's box (its advance width by the cap height), lighter than 22 of the 25 other handwriting fonts. Strokes keep nearly one thickness in every direction: the sides and the tops of o and O differ by 10%.

Its 148 characters include 105 Latin letters, plus 43 figures, punctuation marks and symbols; 53 of the Latin letters are accented or special forms beyond A to Z. The word space measures 46.1% of the cap height, and the blank space either side of a lowercase letter takes up 27.1% of its width. The font carries no kerning, so spacing comes from each letter’s own side bearings. The figures have different widths, so columns of numbers set in Kids Tall Skinny will not line up exactly.
