About
About Phantom Script
Its lowercase is tall: the x-height is 54.7% of the cap height, against a median of 48.4% for script fonts, taller than 46 of the 53 other script fonts. Ascenders on b, d, h, k and l line up with the capitals (99.3% of their height), and descenders on g, j, p, q and y drop 30.9% of the cap height below the baseline, shallower than 50 of the 53 other script fonts. Phantom Script runs 13.6% narrower than the median for script fonts: an average lowercase letter, spacing included, is 55.4% as wide as the capitals are tall (an average capital, 92.6%). The o is close to a circle, 1.07 times as wide as it is tall, and N is the widest capital, at 1.16 times the width of H. The O stops 0.7% of the cap height short of H and dips 0.7% below the baseline.
Ink covers 31.3% of each lowercase letter's box (its advance width by the cap height), darker than 36 of the 53 other script fonts. Paint drips hang from the undersides of the strokes.
Its 148 characters include 105 Latin letters, plus 43 figures, punctuation marks and symbols; 53 of the Latin letters are accented or special forms beyond A to Z. The word space measures 30.1% of the cap height, and lowercase letters reach 21.9% past their own widths into the space of their neighbours. Spacing is adjusted with 42 kerning pairs, fewer than 35 of the 53 other script fonts. The tightest of them is TA, which closes up by 26% of the cap height. The figures have different widths, so columns of numbers set in Phantom Script will not line up exactly.
13 other library fonts share Phantom Script's underlying letter structure. Compared with Phantom Script, Amore Nib keeps the letters plain, without the drip effect, sets 15% wider and puts down 20% less ink. Needle Formal keeps the letters plain, without the drip effect, sets 15% wider and puts down 24% more ink. Sweetheart Script keeps the letters plain, without the drip effect, sets 27% wider and puts down 23% less ink.
Measured from the version 0.1.0 font file. Comparisons are with the 314 library fonts measured on October 2, 2026, 54 of them script fonts.
