About
About Techno Slab 3D
With an x-height of 79.6% of the cap height, its lowercase stands above the 76.2% median for display fonts, taller than 77 of the 97 other display fonts. Ascenders on b, d, h, k and l rise 3.4% above the capitals, and descenders on g, j, p, q and y drop 24% of the cap height below the baseline, deeper than 51 of the 97 other display fonts. It sets wide: an average lowercase letter, spacing included, is 97.3% as wide as the capitals are tall (an average capital, 108.1%), 8.8% more than the median for display fonts, so the same words take a longer line. The o is close to a circle, 1.10 times as wide as it is tall, and W is the widest capital, at 1.34 times the width of H. Round letters overshoot: O rises 1.1% of the cap height above H and dips 1.1% below the baseline.
Ink covers 45.4% of each lowercase letter's box (its advance width by the cap height), darker than 62 of the 97 other display fonts. Each letter carries a solid 3D extrusion joined to its face.
Its 148 characters include 105 Latin letters, plus 43 figures, punctuation marks and symbols; 53 of the Latin letters are accented or special forms beyond A to Z. The word space measures 34.8% of the cap height, and the blank space either side of a lowercase letter takes up 8.6% of its width. Spacing is adjusted with 172 kerning pairs, more than 79 of the 97 other display fonts. The tightest of them is VA, which closes up by 32.1% of the cap height. The figures have different widths, so columns of numbers set in Techno Slab 3D will not line up exactly.
Techno Slab 3D is drawn on the same letter structure as 8 other fonts in the library. Compared with Techno Slab 3D, Station Slab keeps the letters plain, without the 3D effect and puts down 18% less ink. Jersey Slab rings each letter with an outline and sets 9% wider. Report Slab Mono keeps the letters plain, without the 3D effect, sets 12% narrower and puts down 40% less ink.
Measured from the version 0.1.0 font file. Comparisons are with the 314 library fonts measured on October 2, 2026, 98 of them display fonts.
