About
About Terminal Line
Terminal Line's lowercase x reaches 70.1% of the capital height, close to the 70.2% median for monospace fonts, lower than 10 of the 19 other monospace fonts. Ascenders on b, d, h, k and l line up with the capitals (100% of their height), and descenders on g, j, p, q and y drop 30% of the cap height below the baseline, deeper than 10 of the 19 other monospace fonts. Its letters are of average width for monospace fonts: an average lowercase letter, spacing included, is 86% as wide as the capitals are tall (an average capital, 86%), within 0% of the median. The o is close to a circle, 0.99 times as wide as it is tall, and every capital has the same width. Round letters overshoot: O rises 3.1% of the cap height above H and dips 1.6% below the baseline.
The letters stand upright, with no measurable slant. Vertical stems measure 10% of the cap height, lighter than 7 of the 15 other monospace fonts. Ink covers 21.7% of each lowercase letter's box (its advance width by the cap height), lighter than 12 of the 19 other monospace fonts. Strokes keep one thickness in every direction: the sides of o and O measure the same as their tops and bottoms.
Its 148 characters include 105 Latin letters, plus 43 figures, punctuation marks and symbols; 53 of the Latin letters are accented or special forms beyond A to Z. The word space measures 86% of the cap height, and the blank space either side of a lowercase letter takes up 32% of its width. The font carries no kerning, so spacing comes from each letter’s own side bearings. All ten figures share one width, so columns of numbers line up.
3 other library fonts share Terminal Line's underlying letter structure. Compared with Terminal Line, Console Pixel Mono rebuilds the letters on a pixel grid. Block Terminal leans about 7° and puts down 31% more ink. Script Console puts down 17% more ink and has a 78% x-height.
Measured from the version 0.1.0 font file. Comparisons are with the 314 library fonts measured on October 2, 2026, 20 of them monospace fonts.
