About
About Crest Fraktur
Crest Fraktur's lowercase x reaches 74.6% of the capital height, close to the 74.5% median for decorative fonts, taller than 18 of the 35 other decorative fonts. Ascenders on b, d, h, k and l line up with the capitals (99.3% of their height), and descenders on g, j, p, q and y drop 21% of the cap height below the baseline, shallower than 26 of the 35 other decorative fonts. Its letters are of average width for decorative fonts: an average lowercase letter, spacing included, is 76.9% as wide as the capitals are tall (an average capital, 115.9%), within 0.9% of the median. The o is close to a circle, 1.14 times as wide as it is tall, and M is the widest capital, at 1.27 times the width of H. The O stops 0.7% of the cap height short of H and sits on the baseline.
The letters stand upright, with no measurable slant. Ink covers 39.3% of each lowercase letter's box (its advance width by the cap height), darker than 23 of the 35 other decorative fonts.
Its 148 characters include 105 Latin letters, plus 43 figures, punctuation marks and symbols; 53 of the Latin letters are accented or special forms beyond A to Z. The word space measures 35.8% of the cap height, and the blank space either side of a lowercase letter takes up 7.4% of its width. Spacing is adjusted with 249 kerning pairs, more than 26 of the 35 other decorative fonts. The tightest of them is Ts, which closes up by 19.8% of the cap height. The figures have different widths, so columns of numbers set in Crest Fraktur will not line up exactly.
One other library font shares Crest Fraktur's underlying letter structure. Compared with Crest Fraktur, Banner Fraktur sets 8% narrower.
Measured from the version 0.1.0 font file. Comparisons are with the 314 library fonts measured on October 2, 2026, 36 of them decorative fonts.
