Design
Display Retro Bubble packs broad, swollen letters into a dense line, with soft outer edges and small pockets of white inside. The E has rounded arms separated by narrow channels that open at the right. The O pairs a domed outer contour and flattened base with a small upright oval counter. The R carries a tiny round counter above a short, rounded leg, with a sharp inward pinch separating its right-hand lobes. Heavy strokes dominate throughout, but uneven bulges and gently narrowing joins keep the lettering loose and playful. The result feels substantial, cushioned and slightly unruly.
Inspect the narrow E channels, small R counter and repeated L spacing in your actual Latin wording. Try punctuation alongside the letters, especially the heavy question mark. Check accented Latin and other scripts separately; these specimens establish only the shown Latin forms.
Let this face carry a short heading, then try a lighter sans serif for descriptions and practical labels. Its dense black shapes and tiny counters create a strong contrast with supporting text that has open interiors and a steadier rhythm.

HELLO WORLD
Compare the original spacing with a slightly wider setting. The broad black letters already form a dense band; inspect whether extra space clarifies individual silhouettes while keeping the repeated L shapes connected as a word.

HELLO WORLD
In this uppercase phrase, Display Retro Bubble has swollen contours, pinched H stems and small upright O counters. Its rounded L feet give the repeated letters a soft, irregular rhythm suited to playful wording.
HELLO WORLD
Bulwark Block sets the same uppercase phrase with straight H stems, square L corners and broad, rounded rectangular O counters. The angular W adds a sharper rhythm, suggesting a more structured graphic treatment.

How this page was made. Display Retro Bubble is a FontGenerator library font made with AI; before release its letters were read back one by one by independent automated checks. The design notes were written by AI from the specimen images and checked against them by a second, independent pass; font measurements come from the font file. Preview sizes and spacing are comparison settings.

About
With an x-height of 78.6% of the cap height, its lowercase stands above the 74.4% median for display fonts, taller than 87 of the 116 other display fonts. Ascenders on b, d, h, k and l rise 4.4% above the capitals, and descenders on g, j, p, q and y drop 7.3% of the cap height below the baseline, shallower than 115 of the 116 other display fonts. It sets wide: an average lowercase letter, spacing included, is 97% as wide as the capitals are tall (an average capital, 107.6%), 11.4% more than the median for display fonts, so the same words take a longer line. The o is wider than it is tall, 1.17 to 1, and M is the widest capital, at 1.11 times the width of H. Round letters overshoot: O rises 0.5% of the cap height above H and dips 1.1% below the baseline.
The letters stand upright, leaning less than 2.5° either way. Vertical stems measure 41.5% of the cap height, the heaviest of all 59 display fonts. Ink covers 61.1% of each lowercase letter's box (its advance width by the cap height), darker than 115 of the 116 other display fonts. The contrast is mild: the sides of o and O are 1.32 times as thick as their tops and bottoms.
Its 95 characters include 52 Latin letters, plus 43 figures, punctuation marks and symbols; there are no accented Latin letters beyond A to Z. The word space measures 48.5% of the cap height, and the blank space either side of a lowercase letter takes up 10.3% of its width. The font carries no kerning, so spacing comes from each letter’s own side bearings. The figures have different widths, so columns of numbers set in Display Retro Bubble will not line up exactly.
Measured from the version 0.3.0 font file. Comparisons are with the 376 published library fonts measured on November 4, 2026, 117 of them display fonts.
