Its lowercase is tall: the x-height is 79.5% of the cap height, against a median of 72.8% for handwriting fonts, taller than 24 of the 26 other handwriting fonts. Ascenders on b, d, h, k and l rise 12.3% above the capitals, and descenders on g, j, p, q and y drop 42.3% of the cap height below the baseline, the deepest of all 27 handwriting fonts. Feral Willow Script runs 22% narrower than the median for handwriting fonts: an average lowercase letter, spacing included, is 56.5% as wide as the capitals are tall (an average capital, 63.4%). The o is an upright oval, 0.54 times as wide as it is tall, and W is the widest capital, at 1.33 times the width of H. The O stops 12.3% of the cap height short of H and stands 1.8% above the baseline.

Vertical stems measure 10.5% of the cap height, lighter than 13 of the 16 other handwriting fonts. Ink covers 35.3% of each lowercase letter's box (its advance width by the cap height), lighter than 15 of the 26 other handwriting fonts. The tops and bottoms of o and O are slightly heavier than their sides, 1.15 to 1.

Its 345 characters include 245 Latin letters, plus 100 figures, punctuation marks and symbols; 193 of the Latin letters are accented or special forms beyond A to Z. The word space measures 23.2% of the cap height, and the blank space either side of a lowercase letter takes up 15.1% of its width. Spacing is adjusted with 10,920 kerning pairs, the most of all 27 handwriting fonts. The tightest of them is mT, which closes up by 30.8% of the cap height. The figures have different widths, so columns of numbers set in Feral Willow Script will not line up exactly.
