About
About Goo Sans
Goo Sans's lowercase x reaches 75.9% of the capital height, close to the 74.5% median for decorative fonts, taller than 23 of the 35 other decorative fonts. Ascenders on b, d, h, k and l rise 3.6% above the capitals, and descenders on g, j, p, q and y drop 25.3% of the cap height below the baseline, deeper than 20 of the 35 other decorative fonts. Goo Sans runs 12.7% wider than the median for decorative fonts: an average lowercase letter, spacing included, is 85.9% as wide as the capitals are tall (an average capital, 97.8%). The o is an upright oval, 0.91 times as wide as it is tall, and W is the widest capital, at 1.25 times the width of H. Round letters overshoot: O rises 1.1% of the cap height above H and dips 16.7% below the baseline.
The letters stand upright, with no measurable slant. Vertical stems measure 15.7% of the cap height, heavier than 11 of the 22 other decorative fonts. Ink covers 38% of each lowercase letter's box (its advance width by the cap height), darker than 21 of the 35 other decorative fonts. The contrast is reversed: the tops and bottoms of o and O are 1.4 times as thick as their sides. Paint drips hang from the undersides of the strokes.
Its 148 characters include 105 Latin letters, plus 43 figures, punctuation marks and symbols; 53 of the Latin letters are accented or special forms beyond A to Z. The word space measures 36.7% of the cap height, and the blank space either side of a lowercase letter takes up 14.4% of its width. Spacing is adjusted with 87 kerning pairs, fewer than 25 of the 35 other decorative fonts. The tightest of them is LY, which closes up by 22.1% of the cap height. The figures have different widths, so columns of numbers set in Goo Sans will not line up exactly.
19 other library fonts share Goo Sans's underlying letter structure. Compared with Goo Sans, Atrium Sans keeps the letters plain, without the drip effect, sets 26% narrower and puts down 39% less ink. Depot Round Stencil adds military stencil bridges and sets 8% narrower. Orb Pixel rebuilds the letters on a pixel grid.
Measured from the version 0.1.0 font file. Comparisons are with the 314 library fonts measured on October 2, 2026, 36 of them decorative fonts.
