Ascenders on b, d, h, k and l stop at 97% of the capital height, and descenders on g, j, p, q and y drop 32.7% of the cap height below the baseline, deeper than 20 of the 21 other handwriting fonts. Kids Backslant Print runs 14.2% narrower than the median for handwriting fonts: an average lowercase letter, spacing included, is 64.2% as wide as the capitals are tall (an average capital, 76.7%). The o is an upright oval, 0.89 times as wide as it is tall, and W is the widest capital, at 1.23 times the width of H. The O stops 5.5% of the cap height short of H and stands 2.6% above the baseline.

The letters lean about 4° to the right, where most handwriting fonts in the library stand upright. Vertical stems measure 12.9% of the cap height, lighter than 7 of the 11 other handwriting fonts. Ink covers 32.4% of each lowercase letter's box (its advance width by the cap height), lighter than 15 of the 21 other handwriting fonts. It is close to monoline, with the sides of o and O 0.97 times as thick as their tops and bottoms.

The font carries no kerning, so spacing comes from each letter’s own side bearings. The figures have different widths, so columns of numbers set in Kids Backslant Print will not line up exactly.
