Design
Stout Stem Oval Letterforms
Serif Book Warm combines stout upright stems with thin curved crowns and broad, bracketed feet. The O has a smooth oval outline and an open interior, keeping the heavy sides from closing the letter in. The R encloses a conventional, unpinched counter above a strong diagonal leg that widens toward its foot. On L, the long lower arm finishes with an upward turn, giving repeated letters a gentle lift along the baseline. These details make the capitals feel settled and substantial, while the curved joins soften their formal structure. The result suits an editorial mood with a clear, dark presence.
Test the font in your wording
Check repeated Ls, rounded Os, and the R leg in your actual wording, especially where broad feet sit close together. Inspect lowercase passages separately because these specimens show capitals only. For other scripts or accented text, verify glyph availability and appearance independently.
Font pairing roles
Try this face for headings, with a lighter sans for supporting text and compact labels. Its heavy stems, thin curved tops, and broad feet already create a strong texture; simpler companion shapes could keep secondary information visually distinct.

Same wording · 40pxHELLO WORLD
In this uppercase phrase, Serif Book Warm has a closed, unpinched counter inside R and smooth oval counters inside O. These familiar interior shapes give the heavy capitals a restrained editorial character.
HELLO WORLD
For the same uppercase wording, Keyhole Counter Roman introduces a pinched, keyhole-shaped counter inside R. Its O retains a simple oval counter, so the distinctive interior treatment appears selectively within the phrase.

About
About Serif Book Warm
Serif Book Warm's lowercase x reaches 69.9% of the capital height, close to the 69.6% median for serif fonts, taller than 28 of the 51 other serif fonts. Ascenders on b, d, h, k and l rise 6.3% above the capitals, and descenders on g, j, p, q and y drop 28.8% of the cap height below the baseline, shallower than 28 of the 51 other serif fonts. Serif Book Warm runs 5.7% wider than the median for serif fonts: an average lowercase letter, spacing included, is 88.3% as wide as the capitals are tall (an average capital, 100.7%). The o is close to a circle, 1.13 times as wide as it is tall, and M is the widest capital, at 1.11 times the width of H. Round letters overshoot: O rises 2.5% of the cap height above H and dips 1.2% below the baseline.
The letters stand upright, leaning less than 2.5° either way. Vertical stems measure 22.9% of the cap height, heavier than 42 of the 44 other serif fonts. Ink covers 36% of each lowercase letter's box (its advance width by the cap height), darker than 32 of the 51 other serif fonts. Strokes change thickness with direction: the sides of o and O are 4.5 times as thick as their tops and bottoms.
Its 95 characters include 52 Latin letters, plus 43 figures, punctuation marks and symbols; there are no accented Latin letters beyond A to Z. The word space measures 45.9% of the cap height, and the blank space either side of a lowercase letter takes up 11.4% of its width. The font carries no kerning, so spacing comes from each letter’s own side bearings. The figures have different widths, so columns of numbers set in Serif Book Warm will not line up exactly.
Measured from the version 0.3.0 font file. Comparisons are with the 376 published library fonts measured on November 8, 2026, 52 of them serif fonts.
