Its lowercase sits low: the x-height is 63.1% of the cap height, where the median for handwriting fonts is 72.8%, lower than 22 of the 25 other handwriting fonts. Ascenders on b, d, h, k and l stop at 95.7% of the capital height, and descenders on g, j, p, q and y drop 30.1% of the cap height below the baseline, deeper than 21 of the 25 other handwriting fonts. Kids Square Print runs 5.7% narrower than the median for handwriting fonts: an average lowercase letter, spacing included, is 68.3% as wide as the capitals are tall (an average capital, 81%). The o is close to a circle, 0.92 times as wide as it is tall, and M is the widest capital, at 1.10 times the width of H. The O stops 5.2% of the cap height short of H and stands 2.7% above the baseline.

The letters stand upright, with no measurable slant. Vertical stems measure 16.7% of the cap height, heavier than 10 of the 15 other handwriting fonts. Ink covers 37.1% of each lowercase letter's box (its advance width by the cap height), darker than 14 of the 25 other handwriting fonts. It is close to monoline, with the sides of o and O 1.04 times as thick as their tops and bottoms.

Its 148 characters include 105 Latin letters, plus 43 figures, punctuation marks and symbols; 53 of the Latin letters are accented or special forms beyond A to Z. The word space measures 45.6% of the cap height, and the blank space either side of a lowercase letter takes up 14.4% of its width. The font carries no kerning, so spacing comes from each letter’s own side bearings. The figures have different widths, so columns of numbers set in Kids Square Print will not line up exactly.
