About
About Mono Code Cut
Its x-height is 69.6% of the cap height, near the 70.2% typical of monospace fonts in the library, lower than 12 of the 19 other monospace fonts. Ascenders on b, d, h, k and l line up with the capitals (100% of their height), and descenders on g, j, p, q and y drop 30.4% of the cap height below the baseline, deeper than 11 of the 19 other monospace fonts. It sets wide: an average lowercase letter, spacing included, is 92.5% as wide as the capitals are tall (an average capital, 92.5%), 7.6% more than the median for monospace fonts, so the same words take a longer line. The o is an upright oval, 0.91 times as wide as it is tall, and every capital has the same width. O stands exactly as tall as H and sits on the baseline, with no overshoot.
The letters stand upright, with no measurable slant. Vertical stems measure 8.7% of the cap height, lighter than 11 of the 15 other monospace fonts. Ink covers 18% of each lowercase letter's box (its advance width by the cap height), lighter than 18 of the 19 other monospace fonts. Strokes keep one thickness in every direction: the sides of o and O measure the same as their tops and bottoms. Mono Code Cut comes in Regular and Bold; Bold puts down 23% more ink than Regular.
Its 159 characters include 116 Latin letters, plus 43 figures, punctuation marks and symbols; 64 of the Latin letters are accented or special forms beyond A to Z. The word space measures 44.5% of the cap height, and the blank space either side of a lowercase letter takes up 35.3% of its width. The font carries no kerning, so spacing comes from each letter’s own side bearings. All ten figures share one width, so columns of numbers line up.
Measured from the version 0.3.1 font file. Comparisons are with the 314 library fonts measured on October 2, 2026, 20 of them monospace fonts.
