Crowned Wedge Editorial Letterforms
Serif Flared Humanist pairs dark upright stems with fine connecting strokes and curved, pointed feet. The E has a sharp middle arm and a lower terminal that lifts outward, while the L repeats that rising finish in a simpler silhouette. The O sits lower at the top than its neighboring capitals, with heavy sides and delicate curves across its crown and base. The W contributes slender diagonals and sharp lower points, making a lighter patch within the word. These shifts give the capitals a measured, literary rhythm, with enough softness in the joins to temper their formal stance.
Test the font in your wording
Inspect the fine W diagonals, repeated L feet, and spacing around O in your actual wording, especially when reducing the preview. The specimens show Latin capitals; check lowercase, accented Latin, and any other script separately with the characters your project needs.
Font pairing roles
Try this face for a short heading with a restrained sans companion for supporting text and labels. The companion's even strokes can provide a quieter texture beneath the capitals' dark stems, thin curves, and pointed feet.

About
About Serif Flared Humanist
The x-height is a compact 65.8% of the cap height, below the 69.6% median for serif fonts, lower than 47 of the 51 other serif fonts. Ascenders on b, d, h, k and l rise 12.6% above the capitals, and descenders on g, j, p, q and y drop 28.1% of the cap height below the baseline, shallower than 33 of the 51 other serif fonts. It sets narrow: an average lowercase letter, spacing included, is 76.4% as wide as the capitals are tall (an average capital, 89.1%), 8.5% less than the median for serif fonts, so more words fit on a line. The o is close to a circle, 1.00 times as wide as it is tall, and no capital is wider than H. The O stops 7% of the cap height short of H and dips 1.1% below the baseline.
The letters stand upright, leaning less than 2.5° either way. Ink covers 27% of each lowercase letter's box (its advance width by the cap height), lighter than 32 of the 51 other serif fonts.
Its 95 characters include 52 Latin letters, plus 43 figures, punctuation marks and symbols; there are no accented Latin letters beyond A to Z. The word space measures 50.4% of the cap height, and the blank space either side of a lowercase letter takes up 13% of its width. The font carries no kerning, so spacing comes from each letter’s own side bearings. The figures have different widths, so columns of numbers set in Serif Flared Humanist will not line up exactly.
Measured from the version 0.3.0 font file. Comparisons are with the 376 published library fonts measured on November 8, 2026, 52 of them serif fonts.
