About
About Arcade Inline
With an x-height of 81.4% of the cap height, its lowercase stands above the 76.2% median for display fonts, taller than 87 of the 97 other display fonts. Ascenders on b, d, h, k and l rise 3.4% above the capitals, and descenders on g, j, p, q and y drop 23.6% of the cap height below the baseline, shallower than 50 of the 97 other display fonts. It sets wide: an average lowercase letter, spacing included, is 105.4% as wide as the capitals are tall (an average capital, 116.6%), 17.9% more than the median for display fonts, so the same words take a longer line. The o is wider than it is tall, 1.25 to 1, and W is the widest capital, at 1.27 times the width of H. Round letters overshoot: O rises 1.1% of the cap height above H and dips 1.1% below the baseline.
Ink covers 37.6% of each lowercase letter's box (its advance width by the cap height), lighter than 64 of the 97 other display fonts. A thin line is cut along the middle of every stroke.
Its 148 characters include 105 Latin letters, plus 43 figures, punctuation marks and symbols; 53 of the Latin letters are accented or special forms beyond A to Z. The word space measures 41.4% of the cap height, and the blank space either side of a lowercase letter takes up 16.7% of its width. Spacing is adjusted with 94 kerning pairs, more than 57 of the 97 other display fonts. The tightest of them is AY, which closes up by 25.1% of the cap height. The figures have different widths, so columns of numbers set in Arcade Inline will not line up exactly.
Arcade Inline is drawn on the same letter structure as 12 other fonts in the library. Compared with Arcade Inline, Ballroom Inline sets 12% narrower and adds Filipino, Korean (2,350 common syllables), Malay and 2 more languages. Sunset Shadow adds a separate drop shadow, puts down 19% more ink and adds Filipino, Japanese (kana), Malay and 2 more languages. Mezzanine Deco keeps the letters plain, without the inline effect, puts down 22% less ink and has a 73% x-height.
Measured from the version 0.1.0 font file. Comparisons are with the 314 library fonts measured on October 2, 2026, 98 of them display fonts.
