About Marker Memo
Its lowercase is tall: the x-height is 78.6% of the cap height, against a median of 73.6% for handwriting fonts, taller than 36 of the 42 other handwriting fonts. Ascenders on b, d, h, k and l rise 12.3% above the capitals, and descenders on g, j, p, q and y drop 40.8% of the cap height below the baseline, deeper than 41 of the 42 other handwriting fonts. Marker Memo runs 24% narrower than the median for handwriting fonts: an average lowercase letter, spacing included, is 55.9% as wide as the capitals are tall (an average capital, 61.3%). The o is an upright oval, 0.55 times as wide as it is tall, and W is the widest capital, at 1.18 times the width of H. The O stops 14.1% of the cap height short of H and sits on the baseline.
Vertical stems measure 11.5% of the cap height, lighter than 17 of the 24 other handwriting fonts. Ink covers 36.6% of each lowercase letter's box (its advance width by the cap height), darker than 22 of the 42 other handwriting fonts. It is close to monoline, with the sides of o and O 0.88 times as thick as their tops and bottoms.
Its 307 characters include 223 Latin letters, plus 84 figures, punctuation marks and symbols; 171 of the Latin letters are accented or special forms beyond A to Z. The word space measures 31.9% of the cap height, and the blank space either side of a lowercase letter takes up 15.2% of its width. The font carries no kerning, so spacing comes from each letter’s own side bearings. The figures have different widths, so columns of numbers set in Marker Memo will not line up exactly.
