About
About Monogram Hand
The x-height is a compact 45.6% of the cap height, below the 48.4% median for script fonts, lower than 46 of the 53 other script fonts. Ascenders on b, d, h, k and l line up with the capitals (99.2% of their height), and descenders on g, j, p, q and y drop 52.5% of the cap height below the baseline, deeper than 35 of the 53 other script fonts. It sets wide: an average lowercase letter, spacing included, is 73.6% as wide as the capitals are tall (an average capital, 118.3%), 14.8% more than the median for script fonts, so the same words take a longer line. The o is wider than it is tall, 1.82 to 1, and M is the widest capital, at 1.13 times the width of H. The O tops out level with H and stands 0.6% above the baseline.
Ink covers 13.5% of each lowercase letter's box (its advance width by the cap height), lighter than 48 of the 53 other script fonts.
Its 148 characters include 105 Latin letters, plus 43 figures, punctuation marks and symbols; 53 of the Latin letters are accented or special forms beyond A to Z. The word space measures 36.5% of the cap height, and lowercase letters reach 22.1% past their own widths into the space of their neighbours. Spacing is adjusted with 52 kerning pairs, more than 40 of the 53 other script fonts. The tightest of them is FA, which closes up by 29.2% of the cap height. The figures have different widths, so columns of numbers set in Monogram Hand will not line up exactly.
Monogram Hand is drawn on the same letter structure as 14 other fonts in the library. Compared with Monogram Hand, Ribbon Nib Script sets 13% narrower and puts down 97% more ink. Velvet Cursive sets 13% narrower and puts down 137% more ink. Lovers Brush puts down 176% more ink and has a 51% x-height.
Measured from the version 0.1.0 font file. Comparisons are with the 314 library fonts measured on October 2, 2026, 54 of them script fonts.
