About
About Ribbon Nib Script
Its x-height is 47.3% of the cap height, near the 48.4% typical of script fonts in the library, lower than 34 of the 53 other script fonts. Ascenders on b, d, h, k and l line up with the capitals (99.3% of their height), and descenders on g, j, p, q and y drop 51% of the cap height below the baseline, deeper than 31 of the 53 other script fonts. Its letters are of average width for script fonts: an average lowercase letter, spacing included, is 64% as wide as the capitals are tall (an average capital, 106.3%), within 0.2% of the median. The o is wider than it is tall, 1.65 to 1, and M is the widest capital, at 1.30 times the width of H. The O tops out level with H and stands 0.5% above the baseline.
Ink covers 26.6% of each lowercase letter's box (its advance width by the cap height), darker than 32 of the 53 other script fonts.
Its 148 characters include 105 Latin letters, plus 43 figures, punctuation marks and symbols; 53 of the Latin letters are accented or special forms beyond A to Z. The word space measures 34.7% of the cap height, and lowercase letters reach 26.9% past their own widths into the space of their neighbours. Spacing is adjusted with 50 kerning pairs, more than 37 of the 53 other script fonts. The tightest of them is FA, which closes up by 27.7% of the cap height. The figures have different widths, so columns of numbers set in Ribbon Nib Script will not line up exactly.
Ribbon Nib Script is drawn on the same letter structure as 14 other fonts in the library. Compared with Ribbon Nib Script, Wave Rider Outline draws the letters as hollow outlines, puts down 20% less ink and has a 53% x-height. Dugout Script rings each letter with an outline, sets 10% narrower and puts down 108% more ink. Snowy Script adds caps of snow, sets 11% narrower and puts down 75% more ink.
Measured from the version 0.1.0 font file. Comparisons are with the 314 library fonts measured on October 2, 2026, 54 of them script fonts.
