About
About Silly Slab
The x-height is a compact 73.3% of the cap height, below the 76.2% median for display fonts, lower than 64 of the 97 other display fonts. Ascenders on b, d, h, k and l line up with the capitals (100.1% of their height), and descenders on g, j, p, q and y drop 28.6% of the cap height below the baseline, deeper than 84 of the 97 other display fonts. Its letters are of average width for display fonts: an average lowercase letter, spacing included, is 85.7% as wide as the capitals are tall (an average capital, 98.6%), within 4.1% of the median. The o is close to a circle, 1.06 times as wide as it is tall, and W is the widest capital, at 1.34 times the width of H. The O rises 4.4% of the cap height above H and stands 1.3% above the baseline.
The letters stand upright, with no measurable slant. Vertical stems measure 18.8% of the cap height, lighter than 29 of the 43 other display fonts. Ink covers 43.6% of each lowercase letter's box (its advance width by the cap height), darker than 55 of the 97 other display fonts. Strokes keep nearly one thickness in every direction: the sides and the tops of o and O differ by 2%.
Its 148 characters include 105 Latin letters, plus 43 figures, punctuation marks and symbols; 53 of the Latin letters are accented or special forms beyond A to Z. The word space measures 35.9% of the cap height, and the blank space either side of a lowercase letter takes up 7.4% of its width. Spacing is adjusted with 272 kerning pairs, more than 91 of the 97 other display fonts. The tightest of them is VA, which closes up by 31.4% of the cap height. The figures have different widths, so columns of numbers set in Silly Slab will not line up exactly.
Silly Slab is drawn on the same letter structure as 3 other fonts in the library. Compared with Silly Slab, Clubhouse Slab rings each letter with an outline. Manuscript Mono puts down 35% less ink.
Measured from the version 0.1.0 font file. Comparisons are with the 314 library fonts measured on October 2, 2026, 98 of them display fonts.
