About
About Telex Mono
With an x-height of 75.6% of the cap height, its lowercase stands above the 70.2% median for monospace fonts, taller than 16 of the 19 other monospace fonts. Ascenders on b, d, h, k and l rise 3.9% above the capitals, and descenders on g, j, p, q and y drop 27% of the cap height below the baseline, shallower than 15 of the 19 other monospace fonts. Its letters are of average width for monospace fonts: an average lowercase letter, spacing included, is 86% as wide as the capitals are tall (an average capital, 86%), within 0% of the median. The o is close to a circle, 1.00 times as wide as it is tall, and every capital has the same width. Round letters overshoot: O rises 1.3% of the cap height above H and dips 1.3% below the baseline.
The letters stand upright, with no measurable slant. Vertical stems measure 10% of the cap height, lighter than 7 of the 15 other monospace fonts. Ink covers 26.5% of each lowercase letter's box (its advance width by the cap height), darker than 14 of the 19 other monospace fonts. Strokes keep one thickness in every direction: the sides of o and O measure the same as their tops and bottoms.
Its 148 characters include 105 Latin letters, plus 43 figures, punctuation marks and symbols; 53 of the Latin letters are accented or special forms beyond A to Z. The word space measures 86% of the cap height, and the blank space either side of a lowercase letter takes up 19.2% of its width. The font carries no kerning, so spacing comes from each letter’s own side bearings. All ten figures share one width, so columns of numbers line up.
Telex Mono is drawn on the same letter structure as 8 other fonts in the library. Compared with Telex Mono, Campus Varsity rings each letter with an outline, sets 15% wider and puts down 76% more ink. Frost Slab adds caps of snow, puts down 51% more ink and has a 81% x-height. Depot Slab Outline draws the letters as hollow outlines, sets 29% wider and puts down 31% less ink.
Measured from the version 0.1.0 font file. Comparisons are with the 314 library fonts measured on October 2, 2026, 20 of them monospace fonts.
