Compare pixel fonts at the size you will use
Pixel fonts differ in module width, grid treatment, and spacing. Evaluate the target size rather than an enlarged specimen alone.
Pick pixel fonts at the size you will actually use
Small modules can change character once rasterized or scaled.
Compare square, narrow, and console modules
Use the same score or menu text to compare the grid rhythm.
Keep effects separate from the glyph grid
Colour and glow are layout treatments, not evidence of pixel-font support.
Before you choose
- A pixel font is not automatically a bitmap or game-engine asset.
- Enlarged browser text cannot certify low-resolution output.
- y2k fonts — Compare early-digital display directions.
Choosing and using these fonts
- Can I use these pixel fonts as a bitmap game font?
- Check your game engine and export requirements separately.
- Why does a pixel font look different when enlarged?
- Scaling changes how the intended module grid is displayed.
