About
About Canyon 3D
With an x-height of 78.4% of the cap height, its lowercase stands above the 76.2% median for display fonts, taller than 65 of the 97 other display fonts. Ascenders on b, d, h, k and l rise 3.2% above the capitals, and descenders on g, j, p, q and y drop 22.6% of the cap height below the baseline, shallower than 63 of the 97 other display fonts. It sets narrow: an average lowercase letter, spacing included, is 83.4% as wide as the capitals are tall (an average capital, 95%), 6.7% less than the median for display fonts, so more words fit on a line. The o is close to a circle, 0.98 times as wide as it is tall, and W is the widest capital, at 1.40 times the width of H. Round letters overshoot: O rises 1.1% of the cap height above H and dips 1.1% below the baseline.
Ink covers 46.6% of each lowercase letter's box (its advance width by the cap height), darker than 66 of the 97 other display fonts. Each letter carries a solid 3D extrusion joined to its face.
Its 148 characters include 105 Latin letters, plus 43 figures, punctuation marks and symbols; 53 of the Latin letters are accented or special forms beyond A to Z. The word space measures 31.7% of the cap height, and the blank space either side of a lowercase letter takes up 7.3% of its width. Spacing is adjusted with 272 kerning pairs, more than 91 of the 97 other display fonts. The tightest of them is VA, which closes up by 29.1% of the cap height. The figures have different widths, so columns of numbers set in Canyon 3D will not line up exactly.
Canyon 3D is drawn on the same letter structure as 8 other fonts in the library. Compared with Canyon 3D, Marquee Slab cuts a thin line along each stroke and sets 26% wider. Rodeo Slab keeps the letters plain, without the 3D effect and sets 35% wider. Bandit Slab keeps the letters plain, without the 3D effect.
Measured from the version 0.1.0 font file. Comparisons are with the 314 library fonts measured on October 2, 2026, 98 of them display fonts.
