About
About Heavy Slab Mono
With an x-height of 77.8% of the cap height, its lowercase stands above the 70.2% median for monospace fonts, the tallest of all 20 monospace fonts. Ascenders on b, d, h, k and l rise 3.6% above the capitals, and descenders on g, j, p, q and y drop 25.3% of the cap height below the baseline, the shallowest of all 20 monospace fonts. Its letters are of average width for monospace fonts: an average lowercase letter, spacing included, is 86% as wide as the capitals are tall (an average capital, 86%), within 0% of the median. The o is close to a circle, 0.96 times as wide as it is tall, and every capital has the same width. Round letters overshoot: O rises 1.1% of the cap height above H and dips 1.1% below the baseline.
The letters stand upright, with no measurable slant. Vertical stems measure 15.7% of the cap height, the heaviest of all 16 monospace fonts. Ink covers 38.1% of each lowercase letter's box (its advance width by the cap height), the darkest of all 20 monospace fonts. Strokes keep one thickness in every direction: the sides of o and O measure the same as their tops and bottoms.
Its 148 characters include 105 Latin letters, plus 43 figures, punctuation marks and symbols; 53 of the Latin letters are accented or special forms beyond A to Z. The word space measures 86% of the cap height, and the blank space either side of a lowercase letter takes up 18.4% of its width. The font carries no kerning, so spacing comes from each letter’s own side bearings. All ten figures share one width, so columns of numbers line up.
Heavy Slab Mono is drawn on the same letter structure as 10 other fonts in the library. Compared with Heavy Slab Mono, Anvil Slab 3D adds a 3D extrusion, sets 13% wider and puts down 19% more ink. Slime Slab adds paint drips and sets 8% wider. Beacon Slab sets 17% wider and puts down 17% more ink.
Measured from the version 0.1.0 font file. Comparisons are with the 314 library fonts measured on October 2, 2026, 20 of them monospace fonts.
