About
About Manuscript Mono
Its x-height is 69.5% of the cap height, near the 70.2% typical of monospace fonts in the library, lower than 13 of the 19 other monospace fonts. Ascenders on b, d, h, k and l line up with the capitals (100% of their height), and descenders on g, j, p, q and y drop 31.2% of the cap height below the baseline, deeper than 14 of the 19 other monospace fonts. Its letters are of average width for monospace fonts: an average lowercase letter, spacing included, is 86% as wide as the capitals are tall (an average capital, 86%), within 0% of the median. The o is close to a circle, 1.00 times as wide as it is tall, and every capital has the same width. Round letters overshoot: O rises 2.9% of the cap height above H and dips 1.6% below the baseline.
The letters stand upright, with no measurable slant. Vertical stems measure 13.3% of the cap height, heavier than 13 of the 15 other monospace fonts. Ink covers 28.3% of each lowercase letter's box (its advance width by the cap height), darker than 16 of the 19 other monospace fonts. Strokes keep nearly one thickness in every direction: the sides and the tops of o and O differ by 3%.
Its 148 characters include 105 Latin letters, plus 43 figures, punctuation marks and symbols; 53 of the Latin letters are accented or special forms beyond A to Z. The word space measures 86% of the cap height, and the blank space either side of a lowercase letter takes up 24.4% of its width. The font carries no kerning, so spacing comes from each letter’s own side bearings. All ten figures share one width, so columns of numbers line up.
Manuscript Mono is drawn on the same letter structure as 3 other fonts in the library. Compared with Manuscript Mono, Clubhouse Slab rings each letter with an outline, puts down 64% more ink and has a 75% x-height. Silly Slab puts down 54% more ink. Candy Heart Slab puts down 58% more ink.
Measured from the version 0.1.0 font file. Comparisons are with the 314 library fonts measured on October 2, 2026, 20 of them monospace fonts.
