About
About Console Pixel Mono
The x-height is a compact 66.7% of the cap height, below the 78.9% median for pixel fonts, lower than 8 of the 11 other pixel fonts. Ascenders on b, d, h, k and l line up with the capitals (100% of their height), and descenders on g, j, p, q and y drop 25% of the cap height below the baseline, deeper than 8 of the 11 other pixel fonts. Its letters are of average width for pixel fonts: an average lowercase letter, spacing included, is 83.5% as wide as the capitals are tall (an average capital, 83.5%), within 1.5% of the median. The o is close to a circle, 1.00 times as wide as it is tall, and every capital has the same width. O stands exactly as tall as H and sits on the baseline, with no overshoot.
The letters stand upright, with no measurable slant. Vertical stems measure 16.7% of the cap height, heavier than 3 of the 5 other pixel fonts. Ink covers 23.1% of each lowercase letter's box (its advance width by the cap height), lighter than 7 of the 11 other pixel fonts. Strokes keep one thickness in every direction: the sides of o and O measure the same as their tops and bottoms. The letters are built on a square pixel grid.
Its 148 characters include 105 Latin letters, plus 43 figures, punctuation marks and symbols; 53 of the Latin letters are accented or special forms beyond A to Z. The word space measures 83.5% of the cap height, and the blank space either side of a lowercase letter takes up 32.8% of its width. The font carries no kerning, so spacing comes from each letter’s own side bearings. All ten figures share one width, so columns of numbers line up.
Console Pixel Mono is drawn on the same letter structure as 3 other fonts in the library. Compared with Console Pixel Mono, Script Console keeps the letters plain, without the pixel effect and has a 78% x-height. Block Terminal keeps the letters plain, without the pixel effect, leans about 7° and puts down 23% more ink. Terminal Line keeps the letters plain, without the pixel effect.
Measured from the version 0.1.0 font file. Comparisons are with the 314 library fonts measured on October 2, 2026, 12 of them pixel fonts.
