How copy and paste fonts work
Copy and paste fonts are not fonts. Unicode, the standard every phone and computer uses for text, includes several alphabets of letter lookalikes that were made for math and technical writing: ๐ฎ๐ธ๐๐พ๐ ๐, ๐๐ฏ๐๐จ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฏ, ๐ป๐ ๐ฆ๐๐๐-๐ค๐ฅ๐ฃ๐ฆ๐๐ and more. This generator swaps each letter you type for its lookalike, so the style travels with the text wherever you paste it.
The result is plain Unicode text, so it pastes anywhere that accepts text: Instagram and TikTok bios, Discord names, X posts, and game tags. Some apps and older phones lack these characters and show empty boxes instead.
Because each styled letter is a different character, screen readers may read it letter by letter and search engines may not match it to the plain word. Keep fancy text for names and short accents, and use plain text for anything people need to find or read aloud.
Questions
- Why do some letters stay plain?
- Unicode has no lookalike for every letter in every style. Small caps have no x, and subscript exists only for a few letters. Rather than invent a symbol, the generator leaves those letters as you typed them.
- Why do I see boxes after pasting?
- The app or device you pasted into has no font that draws those characters. Try a more common style such as bold, italic or script, which most phones and browsers support.
- Can I use these fonts in Word or Photoshop?
- You can paste the text, but the program treats it as symbols, so you cannot change the style afterwards or spell-check it. For documents and designs, install a real font file instead.
- Is the fancy text generator free?
- Yes. It runs in your browser, needs no account, and nothing you type is sent to our servers.
