Getting a good match
Select a single word or line of text, set straight and as large as possible. Mixed fonts, busy backgrounds and heavy effects make matching harder.
Font Finder compares the letter shapes with more than 1,500 open-source fonts and lists the closest ones with a similarity score. If the text uses a commercial or custom font, you get the nearest free alternatives rather than the original.
Your image is sent to our recognition provider, Mixfont, through a link that expires within minutes, and deleted from our storage as soon as the match is done.

- Is Font Finder free?
- You can try it for free: once a day without an account, and three times with a free account. Each match costs us a fee from our recognition provider, so regular use will come with paid plans once they open.
- Why is the exact font not listed?
- Font Finder matches against open-source fonts. Commercial and custom fonts are not in its library, so it shows the closest open-source alternatives instead.
- What happens to my image?
- It is stored privately for a few minutes, sent to the recognition provider through a link that expires, and deleted from our storage as soon as the result is back. A failed match does not use up a try.
- Can I make a font that looks like the one in my image?
- Yes. Create a font from a reference image with FontGenerator to get a new, installable font in a similar style, which you can use under our font license.
