Getting a clean trace
Tracing works best on flat artwork with clear edges: logos, icons, hand lettering and scanned ink drawings. Photos trace into many small shapes and make large files, so keep them as images.
Black and white mode suits lettering and single-color logos, and removing the white background leaves only the dark shapes. Scan or photograph drawings in even light, and crop away anything you do not want traced.
Images larger than 1,000 pixels on the longest side are scaled down before tracing. The image never leaves your browser.

- Can I turn my handwriting into a font with this?
- This tool makes one SVG from one image. For a working font with every letter, spacing and file formats, create a font from a reference image with FontGenerator instead.
- Why does my SVG look blocky or blurry?
- Small or blurry images give the tracer little to work with. Start from the largest, sharpest image you have, and use black and white mode for lettering.
- Is my image uploaded?
- No. The image is traced by your browser, and the SVG is created on your device. Nothing is sent to our servers.
- Can I use the SVG commercially?
- The SVG is yours to use for any purpose, as long as you have the rights to the image you traced.
