Gothic, Old English and blackletter
People use these names for the same family of letters: dense, angular shapes that come from medieval handwriting. Unicode includes one blackletter alphabet, called Fraktur, in a regular and a bold weight. Both are here, plus framed versions for gaming names and profiles.
Blackletter capitals can be hard to read in long text. Use them for a single word or a short name, and keep the rest of your sentence plain.
The result is plain Unicode text, so it pastes anywhere that accepts text: Instagram and TikTok bios, Discord names, X posts, and game tags. Some apps and older phones lack these characters and show empty boxes instead.

- No. Old English text refers to the blackletter style of the letters. The words stay in whatever language you type.
- Can I use gothic text for a tattoo?
- It is a quick way to preview a word in blackletter. For the final stencil, ask your artist to work from a real blackletter font or their own lettering, because Unicode letters vary between phones.
- Why are there no gothic numbers?
- Unicode has no blackletter digits. Numbers stay as you typed them, or you can pick the double-struck style, which includes numbers.
